As well as trying to keep my hand in with my paintings, I am also doing quick sketches and image alterations……here are a couple and hopefully, I may have a whole bundle of sketches as I’m off to a workshop event tomorrow. Hoping to get some inspiration and more. Enjoy

This is a new painting I’ve been working on. It’s in acrylic and collage currently and I’ve worked it from a drawing of a tattoo I was planning to do. It’s since changed but I liked my working drawing. This is now an unplanned and evolving piece. It may become part of a series, I have yet to decide.

Hello to you if you’re new to my blog……Welcome……..So, its just about a week since the RCA Secret Postcard Auction and I’m now ready to reveal my 3 postcards for this year. Again, it was a pleasure to take part and its always interesting to see what everyone has come up with. Strange how themes appear and such an ecclectic bundle of styings appear. RCA Secret……the final countdown

It’s not long now, Friday 25 November to be precise, when after a whole week of viewing time the 2900 postcards produced by 1000 artists are sold. People will be queueing throughout the lead up with the prospect of picking mini artworks from the unknown and the well loved of the artworld and beyond. It’s quite a mix of styles this year as well as some more political entries this year. This is the 18th birthday of the postcard auction and it continues to have the same playfulness as ever as people speculate on which of the postcards may be the best investment but I would say its equally important that you buy ones that you actually like. I will be posting my three contributions after the auction and hope you look forward to the reveal.

RCA secret and so the countdown begins

Well as you’ll probably guess I can’t put any pictures on right now except for this. Today, I did my colour copies and filled in my artist information. It’s hand in day for me for the RCA postcard auction www.rca.ac.uk/secret and its celebrating its 18th birthday. Im more than happy to be taking part and wondering who else will be on the giant A0 lists. I know at least one who will be…..Stevyn Colgan, who will be contributing for the first time and is well known for his illustrations for QI.

a little contribution to a mystery project

During the past week I seem to have gotten myself involved with a few collabrative projects, one which I’ve yet to draw for and another which is a mystery to where it will lead to. Here are the draft and final drawing I contributed to Stevyn Colgan’s Anger project…….not sure what the final project itself will be but it was great taking part

This is from the start of the second but more official sketch-a-day journal……and because it has each day numbered, I feel like I must commit a drawing of some kind……I hope it might also guide me toward the sketches for this year’s RCA Secret Postcard Auction…..which will be celebrating its 18th Birthday. So I must start to focus and think what I will commit to my 3 postcards……who knows what will appear…….in the meantime…..

Its been a little time since my last post but that doesnt mean that I’ve put my pen and papers down. In fact, I’ve been drawing pretty regularly and occasionally painting. To make sure I really start to keep to the discipline of drawing I’ve just started to do a sketch-a-day journal……initially, this started with a basic journal but I now have a slightly more special one to make this more defined…….I’m going to post these in two parts and keep them updated on here as much as possible……there’s been a lot going on for me and I think I’m drawing more than ever to help focus myself

Just thought I’d share this new painting which you can see as a work in progress here at the moment. It’s of burlesque performer and friend @Khandiekhisses (www.khandiekisses.com), its a little more candid and I don’t often do this style of painting, monochrome/sepia style but i thought i’d try something new. Its in acrylics and as you can see from the photographs I’ve shown the drafting of the piece and the start of the painting itself.
